Dua for Evil Eye (Nazar ki Dua) – Dua and Protection Guide

In Islam, the evil eye is considered very real, as properly mentioned in the Quran and Sahih Hadith. When someone looks at another person’s success, beauty, health, or children’s achievements without taking Allah’s name, or, worse, out of jealousy, then, as a result, it can negatively affect that person.

Dua For Evil Eye

Nabi Kareem said-

“Nazar-e-bad (evil eye) ek sach hai, aur agar koi cheez taqdeer par sabqat le ja sakti, toh wo buri nazar hoti.” – Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2188)

However, Islam offers a simple and beautiful solution to this problem; moreover, it guides us towards seeking Allah’s protection through sincere Duas and Quranic recitation. Tying a black thread, putting up a black dot, burning red chillies, or hanging a blue rock (evil eye charm) is not permitted in Islam. Instead of this, you can simply recite the Aayatein mentioned in the Quran; moreover, you can also recite Duas, as they are sufficient for seeking Allah’s protection and blessings.

The 3 Quls: The Primary Quranic Verses

Read the final 3 Quls for spiritual defense against jealousy, whispers of doubt, and any other hidden harm.

The Prophet advised:

“Recite Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah Al-Ikhlas) and Al-Mu’awwidhatayn (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times in the morning and three times in the evening; they will suffice you against all things.”

— Sunan Abi Dawud (Hadith 5082) & Jami at-Tirmidhi

The Core Dua for Evil Eye

وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Wa min sharri haasidin idhaa hasad.

“And from the evil of the envier when he envies.”

Dua for Preventing Nazar of Yourself

Nazar doesn’t only affect enemies, but Nazar from parents, friends, or partners can also affect you if they compliment you without remembering Allah’s name.

Read this Dua whenever you feel envious of things of others, children, or success:

مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَيْهِ

Pronunciation: Maa shaaa’Allaahu laa quwwata illaa billaah, Allahumma baarik ‘alayh.

Translation in English: “What Allah wills [has occurred]; there is no power except through Allah. O Allah, bless him/her/it.”

Translation in Hindi: “जो अल्लाह चाहे, अल्लाह के सिवा कोई ताक़त नहीं। ऐ अल्लाह, इस पर बरकत अता फ़रमा।”

Easy short verse: You can simply say “Barakallahu feek” (May Allah bless you) or “TabarakAllah” (Blessed is Allah).

It breaks the sharpness of admiration before it causes any harm.

Symptoms of Evil Eye (Nazar)

If someone shows these symptoms and no medical reason can be found, then this can be the effect of Nazar:

  1. Moreover, if children cry continuously or shout excessively without an apparent reason, some people may suspect Nazar.
  2. Sudden headache or a sudden heaviness in the shoulders.
  3. Sudden heart change from study, work, or shop.
  4. Sudden loss in ongoing business without any reason.
  5. Sudden heated fights between husband and wife regarding little things.

Steps of Removing Evil Eye (Ruqyah at home)

You don’t need to go to any peer or aamil; you can perform these steps with your own hands-

  • Perform Wudu
  • Sit Facing the Qibla
  • Cup Hands & Recite Verses

Surah Al-Fatihah (1x or 7x)

Ayat al-Kursi (1x)

3 Quls: Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas (3x each)

Core Prophetic Duas: “A‘oodhu bi-kalimaatillaah…” & “Bismillaahi arqeek…”

  • Nafth (Dry Breath Blowing)
  • Blow gently 3 times with light dry breath into your cupped palms
  • Full-Body Wiping
  • Wipe hands over face, head, chest, and limbs (repeat 3 complete times)
  • Ruqyah Water & Olive Oil (Optional Sunnah)

Read the same verses over clean drinking water and pure olive oil

Drink and wash with the water; massage painful areas with the oil

If you know the Envier, then you can use this specific method

If you know who could have cast the spell, Islamic jurisprudence gives a proper, quick, and explicit cure –

The person suspected of casting the eye is politely requested to perform ablution (Wudu), washing their face, hands, elbows, knees, and feet, capturing the runoff water into a bowl. That water is then poured over the head and back of the afflicted individual in one motion from behind. In authentic narrations, the affected companion recovered instantly as if untied from ropes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q1. Can parents’ Nazar affect their child?

Yes, it is certainly possible, as parents often look at their children with immense love, pride, and wonder. However, if they do not immediately say “Allahumma baarik ‘alayh” or “TabarakAllah,” then, as a result, such deep love and admiration may unintentionally lead to Nazar.

Q2. How much time can it take for Ruqyah to cure the evil eye?

It just depends on Allah’s decree, sincerity of Dua, and consistency. It can even heal in one session and can also take weeks to heal.

Q3. Can I perform Ruqyah for myself?

Yes, you can perform Ruqyah for yourself, as Self-Ruqyah is the most rewarding method in Islam. You just need to read the Quran with trust, humility, personal conviction, and full faith in Allah.
