Step-by-step Etiquette of Azaan

To gain the full spiritual benefits, follow these steps during and after Azaan:

  1. Listen attentively and repeat every phrase exactly when the caller says it. Respond with Laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah (There is no might and no power except with Allah) when the caller says “Hayya ‘alas-Salah” (Come to prayer) and “Hayya ‘alal-Falah” (Come to success).
  2. When the Azaan ends, read blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad, such as Durood-e-Ibrahimi recited in Dua.
  3. Read the main Azaan ke baad ki Dua.
  4. Then take a minute to read Duas for your personal needs. Authentic Hadith confirm that Duas made between Azaan and Iqamah are not rejected.
